Python Developer - Data Science, Image Processing 

Term - 6 Months 

Day Rate - £400 per day outside IR35 

Location - Fully Remote

 

We're seeking a talented Image Processing Data Scientist to join our client's e-commerce team.

This role will be working with the e-commerce data science team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative image processing algorithms to ensure accurate product image association and effective search functionality. We are looking for someone with recently experience on a similar project using Scikit-image, OpenCV, or PIL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Image Processing and Analysis:
    • Develop and apply image processing techniques to extract relevant features from product images.
    • Analyze image content to ensure accuracy and consistency with product descriptions.
  • Product Image Association:
    • Develop algorithms to automatically associate product images with corresponding product listings.
  • Keyword Extraction and Tagging:
    • Extract relevant keywords from product images and descriptions to enhance SEO.
    • Assign appropriate tags to products based on image content and metadata.
  • Image Quality Assessment:
    • Evaluate image quality to ensure it meets e-commerce standards and is visually appealing to customers.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Manage and analyze large datasets of product images and metadata.
    • Identify patterns and trends to inform product catalog improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in computer vision and image processing:
    • Deep understanding of fundamental concepts such as image formation, feature extraction, and object recognition.
  • Proficiency in Python:
    • Expertise in using Python libraries for image processing, including OpenCV, PIL, and scikit-image.
  • Machine learning experience:
    • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for tasks like image classification and object detection.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills:
    • Ability to identify and address complex challenges in image analysis within an e-commerce context.
  • Excellent communication skills:
    • Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with deep learning architectures (e.g., CNNs, RNNs) for image analysis.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).
